Cattle yard systems designed around your property

Balamara Livestock Systems, part of Balamara Industries. Yard design, supply and installation.

Australian-made and hybrid cattle yards are available supply-only for you to install yourself, with delivery arranged, or supplied and installed by Balamara. Delivery and freight, installation, concrete, earthworks, machinery hire and other site works are included only where specifically quoted. We recommend a site review where useful; a site visit is not required for every supply-only order.

The difference is in the way we design the yard

We work cattle ourselves, so we know exactly where poor yard design shows up in real life. Cattle baulk where sight lines are wrong. Operators end up pushing stock through areas that should be drawing them forward. Narrow or badly positioned walkways make simple jobs harder and less safe. Crush areas become bottlenecks. High-use working zones become miserable in heat, rain or mud.

That experience shapes the way we design every Balamara system. We look at how cattle will see and move through the yard, where pressure will build, where the operator needs to stand and move, and where the design can remove unnecessary work altogether. That is why our hybrid and Australian-made systems can incorporate custom safety and flow features that solve real handling problems, not just fill space on a plan.

Full project delivery

One coordinated project. From first design to finished yard.

For customers choosing a complete installed system, we coordinate the agreed yard build from design through to final handover. Earthworks, machinery hire, concrete works, fabrication, supply and installation are coordinated where included in your quote. Site preparation, access, levels and installation requirements are worked through before mobilisation, with specialist contractors coordinated where required and one point of contact across the project.

Property Led Design

  • Balamara fully installed cattle yard

    Cattle Flow

Cattle should be drawn through a yard, not pushed through it. Flow starts at the design stage, with the layout, race shape, entry angles, sight lines and what cattle can see ahead all influencing the next movement. Curved races and sheeted sections can reduce distractions and hesitation, allowing the yard itself to encourage forward movement rather than relying on constant pressure from the operator.

  • Balamara fully installed cattle yard

    Operator Access

Operator access should be designed with the same consideration as cattle movement. Narrow walkways, poor footing and restricted access make routine handling harder and create unnecessary risk around the busiest parts of the yard. Extra-wide walkways, concreted surfaces and covered access provide room to move, stable footing and practical working positions where they matter most.

  • Balamara custom covered working area, cattle yards

    Working Areas

The crush and race are working areas, not simply places to position equipment. They are where drafting, animal health work, identification, weighing and regular cattle handling take place, often for hours at a time. Space, access, footing and protection from the weather should therefore be considered from the beginning, with covered crush areas and dedicated operator zones incorporated where the job requires them.

  • Balamara blind force yard, cattle yard

    Blind Force Yard

Movement into the race is one of the most important pressure points in a cattle yard. The Blind Force Yard is designed around cattle sight lines and forward movement, limiting visual distractions and making the intended direction clearer as cattle approach the race. The objective is greater control with less reliance on pressure, while giving the operator a more practical position from which to manage the movement.

The yard starts with the property, not the parts list

Balamara cattle yard installation

Balamara designs cattle yard systems around how the property and cattle actually work. Stock movement, site access, existing infrastructure, loading, working areas, ground conditions and the way the yards are used all shape the finished system.

That might mean a complete new yard, a hybrid system that puts the budget where it matters most, or an upgrade that keeps the parts already doing their job. The components come after the system has been worked out.

Balamara Built cattle yards

Balamara Built is our Australian-made cattle yard range, fabricated in our Bunbury workshop for permanent, hard-working livestock systems.

The system is designed around the property, cattle flow and day-to-day handling requirements, with custom fabrication incorporated where the job calls for it. Gates, panels, working areas and other key sections can be built around the finished layout rather than forcing the property to suit a standard kit.

The result is a strong, quiet yard system designed for practical stock handling and a faster, more economical installation.

Australian-made. Designed as a system. Built for the property.

Hybrid cattle yard systems

A hybrid yard combines imported components with Australian-made fabrication where the design calls for something more specific.

Standard panels and gates can be used through lower-pressure areas of the system, while key handling areas, access points, race sections and other high-use zones can be fabricated around the property and the way the yard needs to function.

The result is a considered system that directs the budget into the areas where design, strength and customisation have the greatest impact, while keeping the overall project practical and economical.

Spend where it matters. Customise where it counts.

Yard upgrades and refurbishments

Balamara cattle yard upgrade

A complete rebuild is not always the right answer. Many existing cattle yards have sections that still work well, alongside specific areas that create poor flow, difficult handling or unnecessary risk.

The first step is identifying where the system is actually breaking down. That may be the race entry, crush area, loading point, gates, operator access or a section of the layout that consistently causes cattle to stop or turn.

Those problem areas can then be redesigned and rebuilt while retaining the parts of the existing yard that are still doing their job. Custom gates, panels, race sections, walkways and handling areas can be fabricated to integrate with the existing system rather than replacing everything around them.

Keep what works. Redesign what doesn’t.

Yarding Components

  • Balamara custom designed covered Australian made cattle yard

    Custom Components

Custom fabrication covers the parts of a yard that standard components cannot. Transitions, custom gates, access points and handling sections can be built specifically around the existing system, site constraints and the way the yard needs to function.

  • Balamara Australian made blind force yard

    Force Yards

Force yard options range from contemporary open configurations through to fully sheeted systems, with the design selected around cattle flow, sight lines, operator position and the way stock need to enter the race. Custom fabrication allows the force area to be tailored where greater control, reduced visual distraction or a specific site layout calls for it.

  • Balamara cattle gates and concrete raceway

    Race Components

Race bows, race sections, man access, sliding gates, walkways and handling-area components are available individually or as part of a larger upgrade. Australian-made fabrication allows key working areas to be customised for improved access, flow and integration with the existing yard.

  • Balamara cattle crush

    Cattle Crushes

Crush options range from hobby models through to premium squeeze crushes, allowing the working area to be matched to cattle numbers, handling frequency and the level of functionality required. Crushes can be incorporated into new systems or supplied as standalone upgrades, with load cells, roofs and other working-area features added where required.

  • balammara premium Australian made cattle loading ramp

    Ramps

Loading ramp options range from budget configurations through to our premium walkway ramp, with fixed and adjustable setups available depending on the site and transport requirements. Custom fabrication can be incorporated where levels, access or existing infrastructure call for a more tailored solution.

  • Balamara cattle panels and cattle gates

    Panels & Gates

Australian-made and imported cattle panels and gates are available for new yards, extensions, replacements and upgrades. Selection should suit how permanent the installation is, the stock being handled and the way the surrounding yard is built.
